📅 Thoughts of the Month

March has been a social one.

Birthdays, Mother’s Day, my brother’s band playing at The Cavern, a couple of Liverpool games. All good things, but as someone pretty introverted, it’s definitely taken more energy than expected.

Because of that (and a full reset of my setup), music took a bit of a back seat this month.

I upgraded from my Mac Mini to a MacBook Pro and decided to start completely fresh rather than migrate everything over. It’s been worth it, but it’s taken longer than I expected to get everything dialled in properly.

That said, I’m very aware of something:

I keep talking about releasing music… but I haven’t actually shown you anything yet.

That said, I’m done sitting on music.

Here’s a short clip of a track I’m working on. It’s not finished yet, but it’s close, and I want to start putting things out rather than waiting for perfect.

One thing that’s become obvious is how slow feedback can be as a producer. I’m lucky to know a few people I can send ideas to, but everyone’s busy, and momentum gets lost.

So I’m thinking of building a community where producers can share ideas and get feedback quickly.

If you’d want to be part of something like that, reply or DM me on Instagram.

🎵What I’ve been working on

This month I:

  • Upgraded from my Mac Mini M1 to a MacBook Pro

  • Rebuilt my entire setup from scratch (plugins, files, workflow)

  • Cleaned up my desk and cable management

  • Spent a lot of time with family

  • Watched my brother’s band (SYFTA) play at The Cavern in Liverpool

If I’m honest, not a productive music month.

But the upside is everything is now set up properly again, which removes a lot of friction going forward.

April is about getting back into flow and finishing records.

💾 New Tools & Creative Fuel

Youtube: Swedish House Mafia Ultra 2026
What’s not to love? Eric Prydz being involved too just makes it even better.

TV: The Bear

Definitely on theme, as I mentioned in the previous newsletter, I’ve been really into cooking as another creative outlet and this show scratches that itch.

Book: The Satsuma Complex – Bob Mortimer

If you get his humour, it’s great. If you don’t, it’ll probably feel strange.

💭 Creative Insight

1. Do fewer things.

2. Work at a natural pace.

3. Obsess over quality.”

💿 Playlist Picks

Here are a few tracks that have been on heavy rotation for me this month. You can find these and many more on my monthly playlist Line In with Lexton.

  • Disclosure - Sun Comes Up Tremendous.

Easily my favourite this month. Starts laid back, then opens up into something much bigger. The orchestral elements are unreal, feels like a track built for live shows.

  • Charlie Puth & Hikaru Utada - Home

Really clean, nostalgic production. The whole album is worth a listen, but this is the standout for me.

  • Levan Kali - Starlet

You might recognise this name if you’ve read the last few newsletters. Still on repeat. Smooth, understated, but sticks with you.
